How to Recycle Your Wedding Items
“What should I do with my wedding decor?”
“What should I do with my wedding dress?
Those are probably two phrases you searched in your attempt to figure out what to do with all of the things that you used to make your day special. So the question is, what DO you do with the table decor and your wedding dress (and associated accessories)?
Resale
Sell it on dedicated resale websites such as Tradsey or dedicated wedding resale websites such as OnceWed and Wedding Recycle. The great thing about these sites is that you can see what the items are selling for/have sold for and then price your item accordingly. Plus, you know people who are looking on these sites are actually looking for wedding related items so you’ll have a better chance at actually selling. Another option is to join Facebook groups for brides and let people know you are selling your items.
Donate
If you got your items for a discounted rate (or even free), you can consider donating them to Goodwill, Salvation Army, or even a bride with an upcoming wedding! While we know florals aren’t free (or cheap for that matter!), one of the things you can consider doing is giving them away to your bridal party/guests or even donating the flowers to a local nursing home or foster care center.
Repurpose
Oftentimes wedding decor can be used as general home decor after the wedding day - it’s all about knowing how and where to repurpose it! Instead of a guestbook, make it a picture frame that you can hang in your house as a piece of art. All the candle holders that you had on your guest dinner tables? Creatively used those same votives to decorate various places in your home (countertops, bathrooms, fire mantles, etc.). Picture frames, other lighting options, chalkboards, and other little mementos can also become part of your home decor!
So you see, there are plenty of options for what to do with your wedding related items! Don’t stress too much about spending too much money on items you think you’ll never use again. Think - “I’ll find a way to use this again in the future” and you’ll enjoy the planning process that much more!
